What
is Reiki?
Reiki, a natural healing art, is a hands-on method of healing.
This vitalizing treatment was developed in ancient Tibet,
and made popular by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1800’s.
It is now being introduced into conventional medical care
in hospitals and clinics around the world. Reiki treatment
is used as a support for wellness with your regular medical
care.
Reiki is a Japanese word for life energy; the actual force
that keeps life going. When the energy flow becomes blocked,
imbalance leading to disease and disharmony occurs. The
Reiki energy balances and strengthens life energy throughout
the body. Reiki goes beyond symptoms; it addresses directly
the cause of illness.
Reiki can do no harm, nor does it conflict with other therapeutic
modalities. It is, in fact, a complement to therapies such
as medical procedures or treatments, natural remedies, psychotherapies,
etc…
How is Reiki Applied?
Reiki is applied by a practitioner who has been trained in using and transmitting healing energy. As the recipient lies or sits, fully clothed, the Reiki practitioner places their hands on or above the body. The healing energy then flows through their hands and is received by the patient.
What to Expect from a Reiki Treatment?
Each person experiences Reiki in a different
way, depending on his or her individual needs. For instance,
if you are feeling tired, Reiki may energize you. If you
are anxious or excited, Reiki may calm you. Most people
find Reiki is deep calming and relaxing. Your breathing
may slow, as in peaceful rest; pain and swelling may be
reduced; you may experience an uplifted attitude.
